Alpha 0.2 Release


Hey Everyone

Been busy working on Stellar Fury. A lot of the work in the past few months has been on content that is not in the public demo. That being said there's still a lot of significant changes:


Alpha 0.2 Release Notes:

Gameplay Changes:

Player Fire rate has been increased for all attacks

Single-Focus attack is now the double focus attack

Double-Focus attack now fires as a different color and contains special properties

Limited to a meter

Slows bullets in it's path (Tempest)

Special executes an E. Bomb effect

Point items from cleared bullets now automatically magnet to the player.

Starting bombs has been reduced to 2

Bomb drop rate reduced slightly

Bomb stock is now reset upon player death

Auto bomb features has been added (fire bomb when getting hit). Bomb will be inferior and yield no point items. This option can be disabled in the game settings menu

Option added to always fire the standard attack without needing a key press (disabled by default)

Secondary fire has been set to be fired with the primary attack. Auto fire key (standard attack) will not trigger secondary fire

Rank system has been introduced. Current rank determines what enemies will spawn and game will scale up and down in difficulty based on rank. Killing enemies increases rank, missing enemies getting hit/dying reduces rank. Enemies killed from bombs do not increase rank. 

Secret bosses/midbosses. Depending on the players Avg Rank - they will encounter different bosses and midbosses. 

Lots of level design and enemy design tweaks and refinesments

Several new enemy types.

Dragonfly and Cobra temporarily removed in this build. They will be reintroduced later

Rocket and H. Rocket abilities have been merged

Look and feel improvements to player weapons and missiles.

Bug Fixes:

Input is now normalized

Tile map placement issue on level 1 corrected

Fixed bug where continuously tapping the fire key would prevent missiles from firing. 

Fixed issue with settings not being saved

Fixed bug where iframes are not given against beams upon firing a bomb.

UI Changes:

NOTE: GUI is still in a rough state. It will receive continues improvements further down the road. I want to finalize all the player abilities before I refine the GUI. 

Added diagrams showing weapon abilities on the ship select screen

Added visual meters for the secondary fire charge as well as meters for the new Double-focus meter and double-focus special charge. 

Audio Changes:

Music for level 1 has been changed

Bomb pickup SFX changed
